Native Iowan, Doug Knutson, has spent 25 years or so, preserving Midwestern images in his paintings.

Growing up in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Knutson knew he would devote his life to art. He began his career in the editorial department of an Omaha newspaper, after graduation from Omaha Art School. As he gained experience through a variety of projects, Knutson was drawn toward a commercial art career.

After several years of newspaper experience, he moved to Waterloo, Iowa, to work in an illustration studio. There Knutson completed projects for clients throughout the United States, including McDonald's, Burger King, John Deere, Northwestern Bell, and Wal-Mart, with projects ranging from advertising liquor to dancing Santas. He also illustrated children's books, CD cases, video boxes, tin canisters, soap bottles, and magazine covers.

While he has completed many commercial assignments, Doug Knutson's greatest satisfaction comes from using acrylics and colored pencils to record his familiar country surroundings and being able to share them with others as prints.

Today he resides in Marion, Iowa, with his wife and two boys, balancing "fine art" with commercial.
